BYLAWS
ARTICLE I – TITLE
The name of this organization shall be the Pee Dee GIS User Group.
ARTICLE II – MISSION STATEMENT
To provide strong Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support, training and networking resources to the Pee Dee and
surrounding areas of South Carolina.
ARTICLE III – OBJECTIVES
The objectives of the Pee Dee GIS User Group are to:
- Establish a network of individuals that can support and assist other GIS professionals
- Support and promote the development of GIS and GIS applications within the Pee Dee and surrounding areas of South Carolina
- Provide opportunities to learn valuable GIS technical skills and uses of GIS software along with the latest news on software updates and changes
- Highlight the potential efficiency and effectiveness of GIS through collaborate efforts among agencies
- Hold four quarterly meetings annually with a focus on training and knowledge sharing
ARTICLE IV – MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to current and potential GIS software users from the SC Pee Dee Region including but not
limited to Florence, Dillon, Lee, Darlington, Marion, Williamsburg, Sumter and Clarendon counties. Eligibility for voting on
the election of officers, annual review of bylaws and other matters of interest shall be limited to current members.
An individual membership fee will be collected each year by the Treasurer according to the fee structure approved by
members. Individual membership fee will be $30.
The membership year will begin January 1st and run to December 31st.
ARTICLE V – OFFICERS
The Pee Dee GIS User Group will be guided by an Executive Committee comprised of a president and communications officer / treasurer. The officers will be elected by the members and will hold office for a term of one year beginning on the first day of the membership year.
ARTICLE VI – MEETINGS
The Pee Dee GIS User Group will meet quarterly for a total of four meetings throughout the year. The Pee Dee GIS User Group will hold at least one business meeting each year. Minutes of all meetings will be documented and distributed by the communications officer.
ARTICLE VI – COMMITTEES
Standing or special purpose committees may be established as directed by the president.
ARTICLE VII – AMENDMENTS
Each proposed amendment to the bylaws shall be voted upon, provided the amendment has been submitted in writing one month prior to the meeting and signed by the proponent(s). Adoption of any such amendment shall require a two-thirds majority vote of members present.
