Python for GIS Programming Bootcamp in February

eGIS Associates is holding a Python GIS Programming Bootcamp in the Metro Atlanta Area on February 13-16.  The four day class will be taught by an Instructor with years of real world experience developing GIS applications and scripts and will cover:

Day 1

Python Programming Fundamentals

Introduction to Programming ArcGIS 10 with Python The ArcPy Mapping Module Working with Geoprocessing Tools and Toolboxes

Day 2

Listing and Describing Geographic Data

Selecting, Inserting, Updating, and Deleting Data from Tables and Feature Classes Miscellaneous Topics

Day 3

Reading and Processing Delimited Text files Writing Data to a Text File Searching for Files by Extension Renaming Files Loading an XML Document Check for Well Formed XML Documents Accessing XML Nodes and Elements Reading and Writing CSV Files Creating a Zip Archive and Adding Files Working with Databases Sending Email Retrieving Files from an FTP Server

GISP Certification Workshop – Save the Date

About: The NC Chapter of American Public Works Association – Technology Division, is hosting a “GISP Certification Workshop”. The GISP is an internationally recognized certification for GISP Professionals which is overseen and managed by the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI).  The workshop will assist those wanting to know more about the GISP certification, who are applying for GISP certification or renewing their existing certification. Please bring all documentation that you have to the workshop for review. The workshop will be lead by GISCI representative Tripp Corbin.

About the Instructor: Tripp Corbin, CFM, GISP

Tripp Corbin has over 20 years of surveying, mapping and GIS related experience. He earned his GISP certification in 2005 and has been a member of the GISP Application review committee for many years. Tripp has provided mentoring for GISP applicants by reviewing their applications before submittal to help ensure everything is in order.  He is also a URISA International board member, past President of GA URISA and GITA Southeast Chapter Board Member.

Cost:  The cost of the workshop is $35 for APWA members and $40 for non-APWA members.

9th Annual SHRUG GIS Workshop – November 9th-10th, 2011

You are invited to attend the Seven Hills Regional Users Group (SHRUG) Annual GIS Workshop in Tallahassee Fl on November 9-10. This Workshop provides some great opportunities to network with other GIS users and see how others are implementing GIS technology. You also earn points toward getting or maintaining your GISP certification.

The Workshop is also hosting several Pre-Workshop training classes at reduced rates. So if you are looking for training but don’t have a big budget you might want to take a look at the classes they are offering. You don’t have to attend the Workshop to attend a class.

9th ANNUAL SHRUG GIS WORKSHOP

Keynote Speaker: David Cardella – Mobile Project Manager, Esri

David Cardella is responsible for guiding Esri’s Mobile GIS product strategy and vision. He works directly with Esri’s mobile development team through the design, build, testing and documentation process. Previously, David was the Java and iOS technical lead with the Esri Developer Network. David has spent over 18 years in the GIS industry and has extensive knowledge and experience with mobile device technology, and location-based services. Before joining Esri, he spent three years in Malaysia using Esri software to help privatize waste collection throughout the country. David is a graduate of McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.

 

Pre-Workshop GIS Classes:

SHRUG is hosting several training classes in conjunction with the GIS Workshop. They include classes for beginners through advanced users at discounted prices. Seating is limited so sign up quickly.

The Workshop invited you to submit a poster or map for display during the Workshop. All GIS-related subjects are welcome. This is an opportunity to share your work with your peers. So come on! This includes two we have scheduled as instructor led classes for December, Geodatabase, Linear Referencing & Geometric Networks and Using Spatial Analyst for ArcGIS. The following classes are being offered in conjunction with the Seven Hills Regional User Group (SHRUG) annual GIS Workshop being held in Tallahassee FL.

Introduction to Model Builder (1 day class) - $380 per student

ArcGIS Desktop Associate Certification Exam Prep (2 day class) - $560 per student

ArcGIS Server Basics: Installation, Tweaks & Services (2 day class) - $560 per student

Developing Apps for ArcGIS Server Using Flex (2 day class) - $560 per student

Registration for these classes will be coordinated and accept through the SHRUG GIS Workshop planning staff. These classes are not subject to any of the normal discounts offered by Keck & Wood.

These classes do qualify for education points toward earning or maintaining your GISP certification. Some states will also accept them as PDH credits toward maintain professional licensure.
