Keck & Wood, Inc. announces the sale of its GIS and digital mapping business to Marietta, Georgia-based eGIS Associates, Inc. effective September 1, 2011.

CURISA Census Workshop

CURISA – Working With CENSUS 2010 Data Workshop in Florence, SC!

 

 

Carolina URISA (CURISA) announces a new Working With CENSUS 2010 Data WorkshopAre you interested in learning how to use the new American FactFinder?  This is the main census data portal to access and download data from the 2010 Census. Many data users are having some difficulty with the new version of the Census system.

CURISA is happy to offer a comprehensive overview of the system and an online demonstration showing step-by-step how to access CENSUS data. We are privileged to have two very experienced Census professionals who will be teaching this workshop.

The following will be covered:

- Finding data on the new American FactFinder site
- Downloading data in GIS format
- Recognizing various data levels (blocks, tracts, etc)
- Understanding which fields mean what
- Applying the data to real world scenarios

This workshop is important for any GIS professional working with the vast amount of Census data.

Student questions will be welcomed and other related topics can be explored as time permits.

The workshop will run from 8:30 to 4:30 (with breaks).  Lunch will be provided.
