Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (8:30 – 5:00)

GIS Manager and Lead Cartographer of the Land, Water and conservation Division’s Digital Information Program providing GIS services to the LWC as requested. Coordinate the development of digital information in a GIS format, organize and maintain spatial data, and develop derivative products from new and archival data sets. Supervise map production for State map projects, develop data preservation needs for all programs and projects, and investigate new digital techniques, in GIS. Provide leadership in project development and policy implementation as it affects DIP. Proved, plan, and coordinate support to other groups within LWC. Coordinate the delivery of DIP products to a variety of users in a variety of formats through the DNR GIS Data Clearinghouse and other appropriate mechanisms. Advise project leaders on daily and long-term office projects and needs. Oversee and manage upkeep of the DIP’s office environment. Represent project leaders in agency meeting s and in public forums on issues related to DIP. Direct other staff in office duties as appropriate. Conduct special projects at request of section leaders.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in geography or a related field and four (4) years experience in digital cartography, developing digital geologic maps or relative experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Should have administrative, management, or program development experience, particularly as it applies to implementation of GIS projects. Experience developing and maintaining data sets using GIS, experience with coordinate systems and transformations, and validating data. Experience working with a variety of earth science data collection techniques including geologic mapping, geophysical techniques (aeromagnetic, gravity, GPR, subsurface logging tools, and seismic), geochemical, surface and ground water measurements, data loggers, drilling and well records, GPS data collection and data, and experience in developing GIS from these various data sources (digital and non digital). Must be familiar with a variety of software and hardware packages to complete project tasks.

Lexington County GIS Manager Position

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Education – Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field.

Minimum Qualification – 5 years exp w/ESRI Suite of products, working knowledge of personal computer apps, and strong organizational and management skills. Exp w/ HTML5 & JavaScript programming is an extremely relevant additional benefit.

Description:
This is an important management position in the administrative and technical structure of Lexington County. Responsible for GIS and planning project management within the Department of Planning and GIS. There are five mapping/GIS technicians/analysts and cartographers within the Department. This position reports to the Director of Planning and GIS and serves as the deputy department head. Because projects often reach into all aspects of County services, coordination with virtually every County Department is very important. This coordination also reaches many County-wide agencies and commissions, and all of the municipalities and school districts. It is also essential to maintain close communication with organizations and entities utilizing similar technology throughout South Carolina and the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:5 years experience with ESRI Suite of products, working knowledge of personal computer applications, and strong organizational and management skills. Experience with HTML5 & JavaScript programming is an extremely relevant additional benefit.
